Flametree Gathering

Welcome to annual Flametree Gathering!

David Flower presents a talented bunch of artists for our third Flametree Gathering.  It’s time to breathe deep, slow down, and settle in for three soul-nourishing days under the stars and by the lake at Lake Proserpine – Peter Faust Dam. The Flametree Gathering is a grassroots celebration of music, connection, and community, where folk, funk, rock and roots weave together in perfect harmony.  This will be our first year at Lake Proserpine and we think you are going to love the piping hot showers, camp fires, lakeside views and sunsets.

This isn’t your average festival—this is a gathering. A place where moments unfold naturally, where laughter drifts with the breeze, and where the ‘Flower Effect‘ brings spontaneous magic to the everyday.

We’re here to raise spirits and raise funds for Eco Barge Clean Seas Inc., the local legends quietly working to keep the Whitsundays free of ocean rubbish. Our goal is to sell 200 tickets so we can not only cover the expenses we can give $5 from every ticket directly to support their Turtle Rehabilitation Centre. There will be raffles, auctions and Eco Barge’s tasty burger stall with all of those proceeds going to save the turtles. Good vibes for a good cause.

This year we are proudly implementing the first phase of our zero waste management plan.  This important step reflects our commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.  We are introducing practical initiatives to reduce landfill waste, increase recycling, and promote conscious consumption across the festival. This marks the beginning of our journey towards becoming a fully zero-waste event. So bring your reusable cups, plates and cutlery for the food stalls, container so that you can be self-responsible for all your recyclable waste and take them home to your recycle bin.  There are containers for change bins on site. All of our food stalls and market stalls will be supportive of our zero waste plan.

What to Bring:

  • Your shade, your seat, your picnic rug
  • Your favourite people (and your dancing feet)
  • Your esky and whatever you fancy sipping on (yep, it’s BYO)
  • An open heart and a sense of adventure

Markets and food trucks will keep you fuelled, and if you’ve got little ones, know they’re welcome too (and under 12s come free).

Get to Know our Artists

David Flower is a folk and roots artist and storyteller who captivates audiences with his original songs, performed in his distinctive and delightfully quirky style. With a dynamic voice and a deep connection to the acoustic guitar, he also brings harmonica and ukulele into the mix, staying true to the raw, earthy sound of his genre. A natural storyteller and accidental comedian, David keeps listeners on their toes with his sharp wit, unpredictable turns, and poetic wordplay. His performances have a spontaneous energy, effortlessly weaving humor, insight, and social commentary that leaves audiences entertained, moved, and wanting more.

In a very special Flametree Gathering show, David will form the Flametree All Stars with Karl S Williams on keys, Sally Wiggins on drums and Josh Notting on bass along with other special guests.

Karl S. Williams and Sally Wiggins make music that is steeped in blues, gospel and old-time folk, with poetic sensibilities that call to mind the classic singer-songwriters of yesteryear. With a voice that sounds about a thousand years old, Karl moves between guitar, piano and banjo while Sally holds it down on the kit with rhythms drawing from fife and drum music, New Orleans clave and her wealth of jazz and Afro influences.

John Malcom captivates his audience through technical prowess and the sheer diversity of his music. Choosing cover songs from a wide range of musical styles, and mixing them with his original tunes; this provides a platform for both his vocal poetry and guitar virtuosity.

John is committed to his art, and uses music as a way of exploring the heart and soul of his life experience and the world around him. His music has been described as humorous, introspective, profound, and brilliantly original.

Zed Charles is Australia’s wild man of blues! With his finger-pickin’ stomp-box, slide-guitar fuzz-box lightnin’ he takes shreddin’ to another dimension! Recently touring with the Crusty Demons and playing a swathe of notable festivals and supports across his career, his debut solo album came in at #2 on the Blues And Roots Airplay Charts in 2025, this is one show not to be missed!

Tropical State Of Mind seamlessly blend surf, soul, indie, pop, funk, rock, & jazz into an irresistible concoction of sound!

A breath of fresh air in the Aussie music scene. Guiding this musical voyage is their powerhouse, Jezzie – a captivating female vocalist & songwriter, whose voice echoes and pierces through the soul.

Chris Mathews is a story teller and unique guitarist of extraordinary ability, whose fingers across the fretboard sound and move Iike no one else. Then there’s his touring exploits which almost redefine the word “troubadour” – whether he be playing solo, or as a multi instrumentalist for some of Australia’s greatest musical acts. Combining impeccable musicianship with absolutely memorable songwriting, and wrapping it all up with a voice that can only be described as his own

Kate Mahood is a Queensland-based folk singer-songwriter whose music blends delicate folk stylings with the raw storytelling heart of country. With a voice that carries both tenderness and strength, Mahood’s songs explore vulnerability, resilience, and the quiet power of personal truth. Renowned for her captivating live performances, Mahood has shared stages with artists such as Busby Marou, Harry Manx, The Whitlams and Alex Lloyd. New EP set for release in 2025.

Tim Woodz music is unique, spontaneous and insightful. Combining storytelling and witty humor with clever sing-along songs, inspired by the classic folk singers and tale spinners from the late 60s. Tim’s live performances leave you feeling energized and enriched, becoming a beloved part of the folk scene throughout Australia.

Rebelquin is a musical force to be reckoned with. The Sultry Songstress is redefining the music scene with her powerful, soulful voice and captivating performances. With original compositions of lyrical finesse and maestro musicality, prepare to be transported to a world where Rebelquin reigns and song lights the day Combining raw talent with a unique bluesy/indie rock style.

Niq Reefman. Eclectic-songwriter, inventor & tinkerer – Niq is a sonic wizard who has developed a unique trio with “Morpheus” (his synth accordion) & “Victor” (his emotive trumpet). He is the unrivalled pioneer of simultaneously performing these instruments and can effortlessly improvise brass lines over klezmer grooves! Interwoven with theatre, his musical tales explore rabbit-holes of texture and ear candy, while his sonic games sprout curiosity in the nooks of your mind.

Soul Practice by Bronwyn Garland is a guided deep relaxation meditation infused with intuitive practices from the Soul Practice Oracle Cards – a self-healing tool created by Bronwyn Garland. Bronwyn’s hypnotic voice leads the journey, accompanied by the soulful guitar of David Flower, grounding resonance of Bruce Wix on didgeridoo and sublime talents or Rene Goetes on crystal singing bowls, indian flute and medicine drum . Yoga by Alana Murphy Being able to share the love for this beautiful practice is such a blessing and what fills up my cup. But really I am just a guide to remind people of the power that they embody once they can tune into their bodies, connect with their breath and create a peaceful place in their mind. I believe we all have the answers that we seek within us so my mission is just to bring people’s awareness back to their true selves. I fell in love with yoga as I saw it change the way I entered the world in the best kind of way. Once I finished my training and started teaching I truly felt that it was my calling.

Welcome to country by Yooribaya Cultural Experience

A Welcome to Country officially welcomes visitors to the land of the traditional custodians of that area.

Only a Traditional Owner with custodial bloodlines directly connected to that land can give a “Welcome to Country”.

The Traditional Owner speaks to the spirits of their land and requests your spirit is kept safe while you visit.

In traditional times, when a visitor was welcomed on to the land, they would also be taught about local customs, safe foods to eat and where to find water.

In modern Australia, the ‘Welcome to Country’ is a genuine offer of respect. It’s a kind gesture to say we trust you to do the right thing while travelling across the land. So, if you travel to a new place and you have the honour of being welcomed by a Traditional Owner of that land, this ceremony is a way of showing you respect.

The “Welcome to Country” is like being welcomed into the home of a family. You are their personal guests to those lands and waters.
