Immerse Whitsundays Art Installation

The Brief – Create a reef inspired art installation using recycled materials only and digital animations. To be featured on the Airlie Beach Foreshore.

The Event – A combined effort with local artist Bridgett Peel, Liz Knight, and Margaret Burges to create a ‘underwater marine wonderland’ and focal point for the Great Barrier Reef Festival.

The installation is a combination of projected animations and upcycled material sculptures of marine creatures and corals, integrated into the root systems and leafy canopy of the iconic fig tree and planted bed below to resemble a coral bommie, immersing the viewer in an underwater wonderland.

Airlie Events was responsible for collating the artist, facilitation workshops for other artist involvement, overseeing the physical installation and securing the installation area. This has been a labor of love, many years in the making.

In 2024 the art installation will expand even further, utilizing other areas on the Airlie Beach foreshore including the Great Barrier Reef Festival marquee and building walls for digital projections.
